HS Exterior Rendering

During the regularly scheduled Board meeting for the Dallas County R-I School District the Board of Education awarded the contract for the repair and upgrade of the HS exterior to Westport Construction.  The Board and the District Administration have developed this project over the last six months with assistance from their architectural firm, Dake-Wells of Springfield.  This project will begin in early February 2017 and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2017.  The scope of the project is to replace the failing exterior in all areas with the exception of the West side of the building.  The district did not want to complete the West side with a more durable surface at this time because that area has been identified for further expansion of facilities.  The district did not want to spend tax dollars on an upgrade in an area where the work could need to be undone in the near future.  The new exterior will include removal of the current exterior down to the masonry block walls, new footings on the exterior to allow for brick with metal accents to be used on the final finish.  This plan includes new windows in the areas being replaced and new signage.  One sign will state BISON on the NE corner of the building at Locust and Commercial and the other sign will state FIELDHOUSE over the lobby of the Fieldhouse.  This project is to be funded with monies that have been transferred over the last two years to the district’s Capital Projects fund for this exact purpose.
